Follow #SafeME on Twitter for updates on Egypt/Jordan trip

Tonight I’m heading to Cairo for a six-day trip to Egypt and Jordan. I’ll be accompanying the presidents of leading US travel associations as we meet with tourism officials in Amman and Cairo, and visit iconic destinations like Petra and the Giza pyramids.

The “Restoring the Journey” trip is an opportunity for US travel leaders to show their support for Middle East tourism, and to investigate travel safety concerns in Egypt and Jordan.

I’ll be posting updates on Twitter and Facebook throughout the week. Look for the hashtag #SafeME (“Safe Middle East”) on Twitter.

Several bloggers are currently traveling in Jordan and Egypt, or plan to head there soon (see below for a  list). Their websites are a great source of information for travelers considering a trip to the region.

For more information on the “Restoring the Journey” trip, read my prior post, “Is it safe to travel to Egypt and Jordan?

Jordan appears to be the latest blogger hotspot; a number of influential travel bloggers are heading there in the coming months.
