Not the Brighton Beach of my youth-lol. I’ll have to see if I have some old photos. I can envision the lobby of my aunt’s pre-war apartment building across the street from a school.

Well, there is definitely a residential area to Brighton Beach that I didn’t focus on 😉 I bet your Aunt’s building is still there! The beachfront is lined with older co-op buildings, like the ones in Jackson Heights, Queens.

I was waiting for you to say that they also have fish and chips and Brighton Rocks in that Brighton Beach. But then again, it’s not the Brighton Beach I know. Great to read about this. Now I know where to go when I’m in New York for more than a week-end.

LOL– I’ve never been to Brighton Beach in the UK. I bet it is a far different experience 😉 Definitely check out the Brooklyn version– it’s a nice walk to Coney Island, another classic NYC destination.

Wow, you really delved deep into “Little Russia.” What a cool experience!

Brighton Beach is fun– and family friendly too 🙂 If you are looking for an authentic Russian experience and a free beach with no crowds (the opposite of Jones Beach), this is a great spot!

Very cool! Not been to Brighton Beach but one day, a day trip is warranted!

Totally– make sure to visit Brighton Beach this summer! You can eat Russian food then hit the beach 🙂

I was born in Brighton Beach and lived their for many years. It was a great place to be from. Back then everything inexpensive and fun.
Next time I go back to NY I would like to go to Brighton and get a big bowl of Borsht with sour cream and a boiled Potato.
